George Rushing

These are just a few examples of the work done by George Rushing.
His work helped me with my idea for my game environment. These images are beautifully drawn, and what I liked was the way he drew the tree branches in a scary, dangerous way.

The last picture leans towards a disgusting type of scary, though still drawn very well.
This got me researching into environments that can be found in forests, trees and any greenland type of area.

Jungles and tree houses were what I first thought of and I could have built on either one with the idea of tree houses being man made while the jungle is controlled by animals.

It would make sense to look at a lot of games to inspire me to create a game level environment, however I have mainly played on my old Gameboy Advance consisting of the games Hey Arnold, Megaman (cartoon) and Pokemon. I have recently bought the PC game Psychonauts which I find very interesting and shall do a post about it later on.

Back to George Rushing, his other drawings fit in the AWE category, however I like the theme of FEAR and DISGUST so I want to combine those together and find a middle area where I could mix it.

I thought of going with the idea of tree houses as there are different types and they are normally built on very tall trees which gives it the AWE like visual side of it. So this is how I went with the idea of tree houses as my environment. To give my environment some foundation I created a backstory influenced by Greek mythology as I find the mythical stories very interesting.
