Below are images of what Fear and Disgust mean.
The way I want to evoke Fear in my game level is by my lighting. I will be looking at experimenting with dark lighting so give shadow casts which hopefully with give my game level a scary or intimidating feeling.
Colours are going to be very helpful to me here because dark shades can help with the types of lighting I shall be using which is going to be directional lighting because this means that I can focus the light source in a certain area which means that the rest of the area my character is in is in darkness which adds the Fearful feeling.
On the visual side, since my game level is abandoned tree houses high up in the forest, the trees add that mysterious element and the height of them can be used. My character could be scared to venture out to explore other houses if the idea of falling to the ground from a high height is scary.
I may be switching back and forth from FEAR and DISGUST, but I shall be adding that element of disgust by adding bats to the houses which could give the idea that there are other creatures the character is not familiar being around. I could add moss to walls of the houses to give the idea of mould which is basically bacteria that manifests in abandoned or damp places.
This is just a rough idea of the aim I am going for with these themes.
