I came across this article, title 10 Corporations Control Almost Everything You Buy. It was really interesting because as you can see in the image above from the website, there are 6 major media companies and the TV or studios that they own. I thought it was interesting because it is good to know who owns your company and who you're working for. For example, if I like Disney channel but did not like Miramax, I am still in the group that it is part of. It also puts into perspective what each companies audience is. The fact there were more companies back in 1983 is also a sign of how the media has progressed and if some smaller companies had to allow themselves to be bought by bigger companies to sustain success.
This also applies to everyday products that are bought by me and the public.
The chart above shows the countless number of products owned by huge companies, not everyone checks the back of the bottle to see the company names and this also puts into perspective for advertising because there are some people who may not like Nestle but might work or like the smaller companies owned by it, and how much say do these small companies have?
I thought it was an interesting article and decided to share it.
