The Fountain- Darren Aronofsky

In the book VFX Artistry, I found this VFX breakdown which I found very interesting because even though they needed to use 3D and photo manipulation software to produce the result they wanted, the images were shot using ''high speed macro footage of chemical reactions, yeast and various other elements''. These images were then manipulated through colour correction, displacement and warping. I really like the end result of this work, it shows how simple elements can be used to create a final result that can look surreal.

This has given me ideas about different methods that I can use to get the effect I want in my video and how taking my experiments and editing them in certain types of software can really make the result better even though I do not know what VFX I am going to add in my video. This work has definitely inspired me. It would also benefit me to look at other topics such as science or geography to combine knowledge from those fields to make my work better.

The aim of this work was the director wanted to create a nebula world without it looking totally computer generated. He used Hubble telescope photography as a reference so he could get ideas.
