SWOT Analysis Of Me

SWOT Analysis is a method which helps to you outline problems that affect you whether external (out of your control) and internal (in your control).

I am going to do a SWOT Analysis on me to outline my strengths and weaknesses. Hopefully this will help show where I need to improve on my practice and what I can do to the best of my abilities.

Strengths: 

  • My resources are that I go to university and they have many softwares that are used in the industry which I can make use of by doing as much as I can to improve my skills on them. The software is Maya, Adobe Premiere, After Effects.
  • I have a laptop which allows me send emails and do research so that is how I use this resource to my advantage if I have a problem to solve or people to contact in the industry. 
  • Surrounded by like-minded people that I can ask for help
  • I have many ideas that I want to fulfil and I am enthusiastic about getting them out there.


Weaknesses:

  • My time management skills and work ethic. Less procrastination and more action.
  • Should minimise distractions such as music, TV or social networking sites for recreational properties
  • Not being pro- active by looking for opportunities

Opportunities:

  • Taking use of festivals and conferences to further my knowledge and business contacts.
  • Aware of trending software in different parts of the media industry
  • More Visual effects are being used in films and adverts.
  • Competitions in my field of interest

Threats:

  • Competing with other like-minded people who may be doing exactly what I'm doing
  • Different software in industry changing all the time and keeping up to date and what to improve on and what to not look into is a hard decision
  • Money issues that do not allow me to fund projects or affect my motivation
  • Websites and tutorials allow you learn industry techniques so wasting time affects my career prospects.
