Aina Fadina- IOAfrica

http://iofafrica.tumblr.com/

There are more videos to these series about Africans and friends of Africans who are working in various places around the world, it features interviews with them and how they are working in their area of the industry and what influences them.

I cam across this series from a blog/website I visit frequently http://www.yagazieemezi.com/ which features work of Africans across different media like film, photography and fashion design.

Since I am trying to figure out how I want the layout or composition of my interviews to go for my COP 3 artefact, I am looking at how different people carry out interviews depending on their topic or theme.
The style in which this was filmed was very active, it did not involve two people sitting in a room, with the interviewee on the couch and the interviewer sat next him/her. As the interview carried out in the video, Aina would ask questions as her and the artist walked down the street. I think this style helps keep the viewer engaged with the hustle and bustle background of Chinatown, New York. The sound was clear and easy to hear, though there is the distraction of vehicles passing through every once in a while. The questions seemed impromptu than dictated which is also interesting to take note of.

Personally I think that I am leaning towards having my questions more prepared, and even though I don't want the standard format of an interview layout, I would still like to use an indoor space.
I am stuck between asking questions mainly based on my essay and research or focusing on my idea where the interviewee discusses their heritage, talks about their culture and explains how they feel they are portrayed on TV and what other people generalise them as.
