X-Men

Marvel Comics first introduced the X-Men characters in 1963, the superhero powered group were a team of mutants that had evolved and developed powers such as telekinesis and telepathy.
Chris Claremont was given the role of writing X-Men by Len Wein, Claremont went on ''define the X-Men and set them apart from all other ''super-teams'', transforming them form a n almost forgotten team into what would become the biggest selling comic book of the 1990s speculator market'' (Weaver, 2012, 152)
The characters in the team were diverse so this already made the adventures the team would later encounter more interesting.

The comics have definitely influenced the film industry with release of X-Men, X-Men United, X-Men The Last Stand  and recently in the last few years X-Men Origins: Wolverine and X-Men: First Class  which tells the story of how the team came together in the early days.

There have been characters from the X-Men that have been explored more deeply such Wolverine.
His story has been explored in comics and films where the story of how he got his titanium claws and what made his character cold towards others.

Not many other characters have been able to be deepened because some fans prefer some characters to others which is normal but this means that the comic creators need to know who these characters are so they can experiment more and provide stories that the fans will and won't expect.

X-MEN FIRST CLASS

Currently the new X-Men film, titled Days of Future Past and has been inspired by Claremont's and John Byrne so will feature the cast of the X-Men trilogy and X-Men First Class.

I think the X-Men stories work best in a comic book medium and well in a film medium, the games that have been released have not been advertised massively and most fans are more engaged in the comics and films than the videogames. This could be because the stories are more engaging in the comics and there are many different versions these characters have featured so it gives the absorptive audiences more to explore.

There are some characters the actors play in the films that have become the face of comic book character, Wolverine is good example. Since the release of the films, the character Wolverine has been played by Hugh Jackman, he is believable and has now become a known brand that when fans think of Wolverine, they think of Hugh Jackman.
Even in the new X-Men movie, Days of Future Past, where the characters are presented in a younger version of themselves than the early films, the role of Wolverine was not played by a younger character, instead the storyline is that Wolverine is sent to the past to change history.
