It had big names in the industry such as Ben Burtt who was the sound designer for the films and also did Jurassic Park. He described how they had many people on a team working to create many different sounds for different parts of the movie and their recordings of sound from primary sources were stored in case they were needed to be sampled again.
It also showed that when trying to come up with sound for an animated character, that sound can be generated using multiple sources and then layered onto one another to create the desired effect.
I learned what Foley recording is, which is done by foley artists in a special recording studio which helps block out outside sound. The studio has props which are used to create different sound effects in time with the footage, which the foley artists watch on a big screen so they can experiment and get the timing right. This studio may have different surfaces because this affects the sound of certain props so surfaces play a part in this.
This technique is named after the man, Jack Foley who came up with these basic techniques. I found that the sounds for example squeezing a lemon can be associated with a bug being squashed, so it is very interesting to understand how that sound has been translated to a certain concept.
This has taught me to be more creative and give more time when it comes to sound so the quality can be better.
I shall do more experimentation when it comes to my sound, this way I can improve the production quality of my videos and also learn a lot of techniques for sound editing.
